So I have written and re-written this blog post like 100 times in the last couple months. And somehow we now only have 3 weeks left until the 1st of 3 terms for the school year is over and I still haven’t posted it!
I keep trying to figure out how I can condense a ton of information into a short post so as to not overwhelm and bore everyone…so I have decided that I am going to just put up lots of pictures. 🙂 But feel free to ask any questions or suggestions on what you would like us to write about specifically in any upcoming posts. 🙂
Dave has been teaching not only U.S. history, but has also taken on the computer class for 9th graders. So lesson planning and grading have kept him quite busy during the day, and dorm parenting keeps both of usbbusy after school gets out. In addition to being a mom, I have been helping student health with giving flu shots, attending dorm parent meetings, making dorm snacks, preparing dorm devotionals, doing dorm room checks, etc. And then there are always emails asking for help with weekend activities, transportation, subbing, etc.
A few weeks ago we had “midterm” and the boys got to leave school on Friday for a long weekend until Tuesday afternoon- some with their families, and some with guardians if their parents were too far to come for the long weekend. So while the boys were away we slept in (as much as Beau let us), went into Nairobi for grocery shopping, watched movies, and our favorite- we visited the Giraffe center! Beau LOVED them! He even exchanged kisses with one of them 🙂
But at the end of the weekend we were excited to see the boys again- though it was difficult for some of them to have to leave their families again.
We love our guys- they are all so fun and sweet and make us laugh all the time! Every weekend, there are activities for the students in the evenings. A couple of weekends ago was “family night” and our favorite event so far. We had a bonfire & s’mores outside (with marshmallows I crammed into my suitcase from the U.S.) and allowed the boys to camp out in the backyard. We had fun and they seemed to love it!
- Please pray for our boys who are getting tired and ready to be with their families.
- Pray for us as we care for our boys- that we will lean on God for extra patience, love, and grace. That we will have wisdom when dealing with conflicts. And that we will most importantly be able to show our boys how real God is and just how much He loves each of them.
Thank you so much for supporting us in so many ways! We could not be here without you!
