Vaccinations and Cheesecake

This last Friday we all headed to the north side of Chicago, a two hour trip, to get our immunizations for our move to Kenya. This was the closest place to us that gives the vaccinations we are required to get! So, we thought we would make a trip of it.

We arrived at the clinic on time, but it wasn’t until stacks of paperwork, 7 shots, a million sweet potato puffs, hundreds of dollars, sore arms, and 4 literal hours later, we were able to head home- of course stopping at the Cheesecake factory on our way home (we couldn’t waste a two hour drive ALLLL the way to Chicago and not, right?!) While Beaumont slept (woohoo- date night!), we ate spring rolls and chocolate mousse cheesecake- YUM! We finally got home at about 11:30pm thanks to Dave who drove the whole way since I somehow had forgotten my purse at home….ugh. Oh, and I have to go back to get one more vaccination that they were unable to give me that day! Oh well…I did loveeee those spring rolls….;)

Other headways:

We have formed a core support team- thank you to all who are a part of that! Such a blessing!

Books are getting read, lectures are being listened to, stuff is being packed, and house to-do lists are being accomplished. We hope to contact our realtor again and have our house listed soon.

Please pray for us as we still have SO much to do! Especially since Dave works full time (he is grading 7th grade research papers right now-ick!) and Ashley is kept busy running after a newbie crawler who loves to get into things that he shouldn’t! 🙂

“Uh oh, she caught me!”

“The Call to Joy & Pain”- one of the books I finished that we are required to read- I loved it and highly recommend it!

Thank you SO MUCH to all who have and are supporting us!

  1. Ughhh … I had a long message written and it looks like you only received the first paragraph. We will be praying for you as you prepare to set out. Your family, in whole, has been a huge encouragement to us in living surrendered lives for Gods glory!

One of the verses we recall over and over is “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight”. Proverbs 3:5,6

May You continue to seek Him as you strive to serve Him.

    God bless,
    Burt & Sandy

P.S. We hope to meet you in a few weeks at CAHO

  2. Hi Dave & Ashley,
